Snuff Chuck Palahniuk
By Jeremy Grand
Six hundred dudes is a lot, but it's nothing for porn queen Cassie Wright. Snuff is the new novel by acclaimed chaos writer Chuck Palahniuk, author of the well known Fight Club, as well as Lullaby, Invisible Monsters and Choke, which will soon be released as a film.
This particularly twisted tale is told by three of the 600 men waiting on line to fuck Cassie Wright in her newest - and world record breaking - film, World Whore Three. There's Mr. 72, a young man claiming to be a porn baby, in search of redeeming the woman he believes to be his mother. Mr. 600 is a veteran porn actor, wanting one more role, and one last piece of Wright's history. Mr. 137 is a washed up TV actor who resorted to porn to make cash, and carries around a stuffed hound covered in fake celebrity signatures.
It's also told from the perspective of Wright's right-hand assistant, Sheila. Full of knowledge of fallen stars and useless old Hollywood facts, Sheila has the insight into Wright, and is the one person who has the most pieces of the puzzle that make up the porn star.
The story takes place in the waiting room, with the dudes getting pissed off over the random numbers being called, rather than them, Viagra overdoses, videos overhead of Wright's most classic performances, and dripping pools of sweat and bronzer under men who want a piece of history.
The history on some people's minds, however, is not the record breaking 600-man gang-bang, but the possibility that this would be the last Wright film - not because of retirement, but because after sex with 600 men, death could be a definite possibility.
The sick and twisted ending will leave anyone with a softy, and this quick read will definitely leave any dude with his hand out of his pants.
